Since joining Steen Associates in 2005, Robert has advised on nearly every transaction completed, providing a variety of services from origination through to transaction completion.
His chief responsibilities include business development, project management and process co-ordination. He oversees and drives project timetables and helps scope/tailor transaction processes in order to maximise the likelihood of a successful outcome for the client. Additionally, he is in charge of research and valuation analysis within the firm and has conducted strategic projects involving bespoke acquisition strategies for specific clients.
Robert started his career at UBS in San Francisco, in a special situations team working on projects in industrials and defence, where he gained grounding in fundamental, 'bottom-up', investigatory financial research.
Robert is an approved person by the FSA and holds a Certificate in Corporate Finance from the CISI. He also holds the FINRA Series 7, 24 and 79 licenses.
He holds an MSc in Philosophy of Economics from at the London School of Economics and completed his undergraduate work in History and Literature at Harvard University. A native of California with roots in northern England, Robert holds both British and US citizenship and in addition to English, speaks Italian and Spanish. He has lived in the US, UK, Italy and France. Robert also has interests in food and wine and is an Associate member of the Institute of Wines and Spirits (AIWS).
